A short stroll along the tree lined streets will take you to the shops or venture slightly further afield and visit neighbouring Subiaco. Subiaco Farmers Market

With pumpkins and root vegetables starting to feature more in our menus at this time of year, many of our guests choose to venture up the road to Subiaco Farmers Market. With our Perth rental accommodation so close it would be a shame to miss out on the chance to see what delights are on offer.

A quick 5-minute drive or a pleasant 20-minute walk from our short term accommodation Perth and you will arrive at Subiaco Farmers Market. Open every Saturday from 8am til 12noon, this market is the place to find the best organic produce in the area.

With fruit and veg, seafood, meat, dairy, bread and specialty produce such as nuts, eggs, spices, honey and preserves you will be sure to find just what you are looking for (and many things you weren’t!). Hand made pasta, gluten free bread, additive free preserves – these are just some of the delights you will find at Subiaco Farmers Market.

Bring your fresh produce home and make the most of the fully furnished kitchen within your Perth rental accommodation, or find a pleasant spot to sit in the parks of Subiaco and make the most of the pleasant autumn weather. Or, if you are staying with us while visiting a loved one in hospital, take them a special treat from the market.

History, heritage and chocolate

Neighbouring Subiaco runs an eclectic mix of events throughout the year and autumn is no different. Next month their ‘See Subi on Sunday’ event is a special Mother’s Day guided walk that ends with a cup of tea, a tasting and a demonstration by artisan chocolatier extraordinaire Sue Lewis.

This free event starts at 1.30 and goes until 3pm on Sunday 10th May. It is suitable for all ages and is a great way to get a free guide to Subiaco (known locally as Subi), find out about the history of Subi and explore some of the rich beauty and heritage in the area. Visit the City of Subiaco website for more information about this event.

Subiaco calendar of events

The City of Subiaco publishes a calendar of events all year round. This is a great place to start when looking for things to do in and near your short term accommodation Perth. Keep you eyes on upcoming events and be prepared for updates to appear throughout the year. Go to the City of Subiaco calendar of events to find out what is happening close by during your stay at our short term rental accommodation. New events are posted regularly.

Autumn in Kings Park

Just a few minutes walk from your short term accommodation Perth you will reach the iconic Kings Park and Botanic Gardens. It is so close you will arrive before you realise you have even left! Autumn in Kings Park is a real treat of nature and we encourage you to pull on the jumpers and take a stroll through the trees and enjoy the crisp morning air.

Perth rarely reaches freezing temperatures at night (and with our heating your short term accommodation will stay toasty warm regardless). Even if you set off on foot or on bike in the early hours of the morning, you will soon warm up and find yourself peeling off the layers as you tilt your head back to enjoy the warm sunshine that Perth is famous for all year round.

Each autumn the Friends of Kings Park hold a native plant sale at Kings Park with all proceeds going to fund further research and special projects within the park. This is a very popular event and well worth a visit. Even if you can’t make a purchase you can explore the vast selection of plants available, find out top tips for growing in harsh climates or just sit back and enjoy the entertainment that usually occurs around this event.

This year (2015) the autumn sale will be held on Sunday, May 17th. Starting at 8.30am it closes at 12noon, but be prepared for the best specimens to go early on! For more information about this year’s May Native Plant Sale visit the Friends of Kings Park website.
